Welcome to the Infamous Scribbler Web Launch and Cover Reveal!
Feel free to poke around, or stand by for the full tour.
First up, why “Infamous Scribbler?” I’ve been writing all my life, and a good part of that time was spent with the AP Stylebook at my side. My first journalistic venture was a newspaper/literary journal of four or six stapled pages, distributed to the unsuspecting residents of Meadowlark Drive. I was in the fourth grade; my feature story was a fiction piece about Martians who liked sausage pizza.
My career as a reporter was short-lived—five years as a military reporter, and a short time working freelance for the local weekly. Nowadays, I’m a writer with a day job, but lucky for me, it’s a day job that both drives me insane and gives me purpose, so I can’t complain.
Next, the moment you’ve all been waiting for—the Cover Reveal for my novel Soft Target:
Ain’t she snazzy? Cover design by Marcy Rachel Designs http://www.marcyracheldesigns.com/.
I wrote this book about five years ago, and shopped it around with little to no success. From everywhere, the constant refrain: We like the concept, we like the writing—but the market is saturated with this genre.
If you want something done, etc., etc. I decided it was time to get into the self-publishing gig. I checked out a few houses that publish solely digital works, which led to the site you see before you today. Check out some more tidbits, including Chaptes 1 and 2 chapter, here.
Speaking of Cover Designs…
You may notice the “Characters and Conversations” tab. This is a weekly feature where you will find interviews with a wide variety of folks. First up, an interview with Marcy Rachel, of Marcy Rachel Designs, where we talk about creativity, design, and the community of indie authors.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be talking with an editor at a romantic fiction publishing house, an independent filmmaker, a professional editor, and even a commander of a military police company. Check back Friday mornings to see who’s up next!
But wait, there’s more!
Don’t have time to read a novel? No problem! I’ve got a page chock full of Short Stories!
Okay, so maybe it’s a little more chock than full at this point in time, but I’ve only been sending stuff out for about a year. As more stories get (hopefully) accepted, I’ll post them up.
I’d like to draw your attention to the illustration and the Web banner. The banner is courtesy of Marcy Rachel, and the illustration is “French Quarter Fae,” by Marrus, used with permission. I own the original, but if you love it, stop by her site and pick up a print.
Just a couple more things, and then I’ll release you to explore on your own.
Almost two decades ago, some friends and I got together to play music for Earth Day, 1996. And then we kept playing. Heather and Lynn waited patiently as we cut our CD through two deployments, played out at countless shady open mic nights, stood by my side when I got married, and finally, drove without hesitation to play music with me when I needed them after my sister passed.
You can find the music we play filed under Pop’s Basement. Someday, hopefully, we’ll play some more.

And that, ladies and gents, concludes our tour. Feel free to wander around the exhibition just a little while longer. Drop any suggestions in the comment box, and come back to visit us soon!
